In 2011, Green Bay Area Public Schools (GBAPS) implemented Infinite
Campus as their student information system (SIS). At the time, they were
using a third-party vendor to administer their Free and Reduced
Application Management (FRAM) process. After realizing this was costly
and inefficient, they made the decision to start using Campus FRAM for
the 2012-13 school year. This tool is included with the core SIS and
processes applications giving students free, reduced or paid meal status
while ensuring data confidentiality in the cafeteria.
Immediate Solutions
By
transitioning to Campus FRAM, GBAPS was able to centralize all their
information into one database, while reducing the amount of staff time
managing separate applications.
GBAPS uses FRAM as a primary source for student eligibility data. They
also utilize the Household and Online Application Editor, Eligibility
Import Wizard, Eligibility Tab, Verification Tab and many reports.
“Although it is difficult to select a favorite feature of FRAM, I would
say the online application has been one of my greatest professional
successes,” said Amanda Frisque, GBAPS Food Service Specialist. “Working
with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to have the first
Campus online application approved was a great opportunity.”
Ease-of-Use
GBAPS appreciates that Campus FRAM creates an efficient and streamlined approach.
“The data integration of household and student information is accurate
and allows for simpler input,” said Frisque. “Multi-department data
sharing, access to student household information, and ease of data entry
make our jobs more productive.”
During the 2012-13 school year, approximately 50 online applications
were submitted. More than 100 online applications have been submitted
for the 2013-14 school year.
“I’m excited to see the continued success of using FRAM,” said Frisque.
GBAPS staff finds Campus very user-friendly allowing for accurate data
collection and improved communication with other departments in the
district.
In addition, the Campus Community provides 24/7 access to resources and
training tools to share knowledge, provide product tips and tricks and
promote peer-to-peer networking.
Return on Investment
GBAPS’
purchase of Infinite Campus and access to FRAM has been an incredible
resource for the Food Service department. It has allowed for timely
processing of FRAM applications for families with the most current data
available.
Additionally, using Campus SIS is convenient since nearly all the data
they need when communicating with families and staff is in one database.
“As an end-user, I am pleased with the data accuracy of FRAM, as well
as the display,” said Frisque. “The navigation pathways are logical. My
contact with Campus Support staff has always been very pleasant with
positive results. I would consider myself an end-user advocate for
Infinite Campus.”
