And just like that, the 2024-25 school year is officially upon us – the time has come for districts to begin preparing to welcome students back to the classroom. As you begin prepping schedules and lesson plans, don’t forget the additional tasks that also have to be accomplished within your Student Information System (SIS).
Check out the following list for many (but not all) tasks that need to be completed before students are back in their seats.
Administration
- Activate the new academic year system wide.
- Update tool rights for all new and returning district personnel.
- Verify new and current student enrollment.
- Review online registration processes and update as needed.
- Determine locker assignments for new students.
- Send reminder to parents/guardians about new and/or outstanding fees.
- Check the Curriculum Library to ensure content meets district standards.
- Modify district reports as needed to reflect the new school year.
- Create any new activity registration needed for the fall semester.
- Finalize classroom rosters and assign within the Campus SIS.
- Make appropriate changes within FRAM, ensuring all students that qualify are marked within the system.
Teachers
- Set up your classroom grade book.
- Verify your roster for each class section you teach.
- Prepare lesson plans and add assignments into each course section.
- Schedule special education evaluations (as needed).
- Encourage the parents and students to download the Campus Parent and Campus Student mobile apps.
Technology
- Verify all new equipment ordered in the spring is set up and working properly.
- Schedule equipment pickup with district teachers and staff.
- Activate food service terminals.
- Set up Hall Pass rules within the Campus Workflow Suite.
- Create ID cards for new students.
