Laramie Chooses Infinite Campus to Improve Efficiencies

Oct. 10, 2012 – Blaine, Minn. – Laramie County School District 1 (LCSD1), serving more than 13,400 students in the Cheyenne, Wyoming area, has selected Infinite Campus as its student information system (SIS). Infinite Campus, Inc. is the largest American-owned SIS and will give LCSD1 a proven district-wide, Web-based system that will improve data management, drive informed decisions and realize staff efficiencies.

“The decision to change our SIS was directly tied to our strategic plan, with the goals of developing more efficient practices, improving our use of resources, and directly supporting the continued development of the instruction and learning in our classrooms,” said Gordon Knopp, LCSD1 Director of Technology.

LCSD1 had district-wide participation in the selection process, involving more than 100 people over a two-year planning session. “As our district needs grew, our legacy system was not able to provide all the functionality we required. Over the years, we purchased several third-party systems and worked hard to tie them all together. However, because these systems were not really integrated, managing them became time consuming. In addition, they lacked the data integrity and validation functions we wanted. When we saw everything that Infinite Campus offers in one integrated product, we realized we could replace six to seven third-party systems immediately. This will allow us to spend less time managing data and more time working with students.”

The most obvious advantage of Infinite Campus is its student-centric architecture. “Many systems are school or course based,” stated Knopp. “Infinite Campus has all the attributes tied to the student. It’s all about the kids. That makes all the other data structures we’ve built work better.”

Because so many people were involved in determining the requirements for a new system and providing input in the selection process, they had a vested interest in getting the best SIS to meet their needs today and in the future. After seeing the power of Infinite Campus integration, flexibility, communication and analysis tools, there is genuine excitement about the opportunities with Infinite Campus.

Computer Information Concepts, Inc. (CIC) is the Infinite Campus Channel Partner serving customers in several states, including Wyoming. “We are pleased that LCSD1 selected Infinite Campus and CIC after a thorough review process, and welcome them to our growing family of customers in Wyoming and the Midwest,” said Steve Bohlender, CIC Executive Vice President. “LCSD1 saw that Infinite Campus will save them valuable staff resources and money while delivering the best value over time.”

“We are confident we made the best choice for LCSD1,” said Knopp. “Infinite Campus has a strong vision of where they’re going and has the infrastructure to make it happen.

[Infinite Campus] understands what is needed in K12 education, have a strong presence in Wyoming, and a national customer base that will stimulate innovation to benefit all of us.”

LCSD1 plans to go live over the summer of 2013.
