Taking Attendance During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Traditional attendance assumes students are present with teachers marking them absent if they don’t show up for class. With schools closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers need a way to give students attendance “credit” for doing classwork at home or participating in online activities. Infinite Campus is introducing a solution to address this need.

A “COVID-19 Attendance” grading task can automatically be created in each teacher’s Grade Book with daily assignments allowing teachers to “score” attendance like they would assessments. Using this method, attendance can be entered and edited for the current day and/or days in the past. Please Note: Schools using Campus Learning (free through the end of June 2020) can allow students to “self-report” attendance by completing a quick assessment via the Campus Student app.

We are working directly with pilot districts on our COVID-19 attendance solution. Our plan is to make the attendance solution (and training materials) generally available soon, once the pilot is complete. Districts may then select and implement the solution. Click here for more information.
