Updates for Assignment-based Attendance Posting

We are here if you need us.

Published April 8, 2020 -

Student participation/attendance solutions during these challenging times.

With schools closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers needed to give students attendance “credit” for doing classwork at home or participating in online activities.

Updates for Assignment-based Attendance Posting

Updates

Assignments flagged as Turned In can now be included in the Flagged Assignments report. Additionally, a task selector has been added to the extract editor that allows a teacher to limit report results to the selected grading task(s) and standard(s). When tasks are selected, the report generates results from all instances of that task across all sections of the student's schedule, including sections not taught by the user.

RX Highlights

Our solution will move these assignment scores to attendance marks by:

  • Adding a checkbox on Attendance Code Editor to allow assignment-based attendance modification for identification of which attendance code will be written
  • Placing a checkbox on the calendar to identify which calendar to create attendance
  • On the calendar, once identified, requiring the selection of an attendance code that is marked as assignment attendance modification with effective date
  • Including a stored procedure in the task scheduler to execute this process

Timing/Implementation

The Rx was available Thursday, April 9, to customers running Campus.2008, Campus.2012, and Campus.2016.

  • Cloud choice, self-hosted, and in-district customers will need to request an update to their site; it will then be deployed overnight and available the next day.
  • Cloud customers will receive this functionality with the GA release of Campus.2016.

Training Videos

NOTE: The below video content was created for the purposes of collecting student participation/attendance data while not restricting teachers to only the current date. These solutions are OPTIONAL and at this point, will not count toward any attendance funding reports in your state. As we get more information from each ESA, we will work to help set up a solution in your state to move the data appropriately.

SIS Administrators: To understand the difference between the two solutions, please watch both teacher videos.

Videos are grouped by how your teachers will collect attendance data in the Grade Book:

For teacher-marked only solution, please watch/share these two videos:
