Campus Food Service streamline processes and improve parent communication.

Stephanie Caldwell, director of food service for Campbell County, knows firsthand the benefits of choosing Campus Food Service. She also used the program in her previous position at Williamstown Independent Schools in Williamstown, Ky.

Reasons for Change
Campbell County’s previous food service vendor took up to three days to enroll students in the lunch program and provided no prior year student activity data. In addition, it required two systems to manage the program, one for processing applications and one for point-of-sale. There were discrepancies in reports and the system was not Web-based.

“Being able to use Campus anywhere I have internet access is fabulous. I can help staff no matter where I am. It allows me to run precise reports anytime, day or night,” said Caldwell.

Once household information has been entered in Campus Food Service, student information is centralized in one location. This ensures data is current, something Campbell didn’t have with their previous system.

Prior to implementing Campus Food Service, Campbell County realized their point-of-sale (POS) system was old and needed to be updated.

Infinite Campus provides POS options that allows Campbell to mix and match functionality to meet the specific needs of each school. Terminals handle busy lunchroom operations including cash transactions.

Teachers can also use Campus Class Serve to record food items distributed in the classroom.

With Infinite Campus, as soon as a child is enrolled in the district, they appear in the POS. In addition, the compatibility of the attendance and POS programs make application processing simpler.

“Being able to use our existing computers for cash registers was a huge savings. The PIN pads are less expensive than competitors. Thank you!”
said Caldwell.

Food Service has allowed parents to immediately access their students’ account balances and view meal selections via the Campus Portal. “Having a one-stop-shop for Food Service, grades and attendance via the Portal is a valuable feature for parents, said Caldwell.

In addition, Campbell County began using Campus Free and Reduced Application Management (FRAM). This helpful tool is included with the core SIS. It processes applications giving students free, reduced or paid meal status while ensuring data confidentiality in the cafeteria.

Conducting and reporting annual federal verification of applications results in increased cash flow for the district.

“FRAM pulls a lot of information for me that provides faster processing time and concise reporting,” stated Caldwell.

Campus Food Service has allowed Campbell County to deliver accurate food service program data to district stakeholders. Cleaner data and immediate enrollment in the lunch program have improved district cafeteria operations.
