Infinite Campus Announces Federal Accountability Reporting

Feb. 23, 2011 – Blaine, Minn. – Infinite Campus, Inc. announces the release of Campus Federal Accountability Reporting with Infinite Campus State Edition (ICSE). With optimal user control, this highly customizable tool allows the state to set the rules, configuration, and output for accurate Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) reports required under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).

Campus Federal Accountability Reporting highlights:

  • School, district, and state improvement status determination
  • Flexible system allows adjustments to AYP rules and preferences each year as Accountability Workbooks are updated, and the ability to model those changes prior to seeking USED approval to the state accountability plan
  • Easy Full Academic Year and student subgroup determination
  • Ability to run AYP multiple times for analysis and combine multiple runs in the official AYP results
  • Override tools to make the appeals process simpler

Campus Federal Accountability Reporting manages the data entered by each district with the fully-integrated Infinite Campus District Edition, or imported from any third-party student information systems, directly to ICSE, making all data viewable in real time to stakeholders.

Once data is staged in ICSE, the Campus Federal Accountability Reporting engine applies the state’s unique rules accurately, calculating academic achievement based on assessment results, assessment participation rates, attendance rates, graduation rates, and full academic year.

The system allows for unique configuration of complex calculations such as:

  • Allowing adjustments for the 1% and 2% cap on alternate/modified academic achievement standards
  • Confidence Interval management for academic achievement and flexibilities
  • Aggregating multiple years of academic achievement data for subgroups and small schools determinations
  • US DOE 4-Year Adjusted, Extended-Year Adjusted, or NGA Graduation Rates
  • Versatile N-Size settings for each measurement area

After the Campus Federal Accountability Reporting engine processes the data, the result set is available for export to be published in a variety of formats. A template for web-based publishing of the NCLB report card is available for states to customize or a PDF can be generated for each school and district report card.

Infinite Campus has provided AYP and NCLB report cards as a custom solution for the South Dakota Department of Education (DOE) for the last eight years. This year, the South Dakota DOE and Infinite Campus will begin using the new Campus Federal Accountability Reporting engine.

Judy Merriman, administrator for South Dakota DOE Data Management explained the advantages: “By switching from an entirely manual approach of AYP calculation to a product-based approach we expect to increase the reliability and validity of the data, increase the automation of the data collection, drive greater district ownership of the student level data prior to submission and – perhaps most importantly – reduce the expense related to this data management and reporting task.”

Merriman, along with Denise Salyers of the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), will be presenting on this topic at the National Center for Educational Statistics MIS 2011 conference in Austin, Texas on Friday, Feb. 25 in a session called “Efficiently Collecting, Monitoring and Processing South Dakota and BIE Data for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).” This session will highlight the challenges in collecting and managing AYP related data and how the Infinite Campus state solutions helps to simplify the task.

Eric Creighton, Infinite Campus Chief Operating Officer said, “We are excited to release this enhancement to our ICSE customers at no additional charge. In developing this enhancement, we evaluated each and every state’s Accountability Workbook and built a solution that can address the most complex federal accountability rules. We look forward to all of our state customers reaping the benefit of streamlined and simplified federal accountability reporting.”
