Redondo Beach Selects Infinite Campus as Their Student Information System

Dec. 12, 2007 – Arden Hills, Minn., – Infinite Campus today announced that Redondo Beach Unified School District (RBUSD) selected Infinite Campus as its district-wide student management system. RBUSD has approximately 8,000 enrolled students and chose Campus to help them accomplish their education goals. It will implement Campus in February 2008.

"We are pleased that Redondo Beach has joined the growing number of schools in California selecting Infinite Campus as their student information system," said Charlie Kratsch, founder and CEO of Infinite Campus. RBUSD investigated several vendors.

"Although Infinite Campus has a relatively new presence in California, I was not concerned. I was looking for the best system available for our district and our processes," said Derek Kinsey, RBUSD Chief Information and Instructional Technology Officer. "Infinite Campus was overwhelmingly selected by our committee. The Campus Schedule Wizard was superb. Campus Attendance, Portal for parents and the intuitive navigation of the product elevated Infinite Campus above the others."

RBUSD had been on SASIxp by Pearson.

"My staff found the SASI system cumbersome when extracting data for reporting," said Kinsey. "For example, our SIS administrator spent three to four months just extracting the information to send to the state. It wasn’t a good use of our staff time."

When considering California state reporting, Kinsey was definite.

"Keeping up with California CSIS state reporting changes is virtually impossible," he said. "But when you look at the Campus data queue and reporting features, I know the information needed can be pulled out accurately."

Kinsey advises districts interested in Infinite Campus to embrace change and the emerging technology for student data management.

"The business objectives of Infinite Campus make sense. I have not seen a product that compares to Infinite Campus and I expect to see a lot more districts in California using it. "
