Infinite Campus Introduces Statewide Student Education Management System

October 3, 2006 - Arden Hills, Minn. – Infinite Campus, Inc. today announced the release of the Infinite Campus State Edition student information system. The Infinite Campus State Edition is the first statewide distributed data collection and analysis system.

Each district within a state or region runs a local feature-rich, web-based student information system designed to be an integral part of a state data collection system. This distributed set of district systems feed data in real time to the central Infinite Campus state data warehouse eliminating the burden and problems of periodic state reporting.

Each district uses their local student information system to feed data in real-time to the Infinite Campus State Edition or data warehouse. The state can also provide services to the districts including state/testing ID number assignment, student locator services, enrollment overlap prevention, college transcript submission and student record transfers – all transparently available to the district user through their district system streamlining local administrative processes. State data validation and integrity is performed at the initial point of data entry ensuring accurate data throughout the entire process.

Features of the State Edition include:
• Unique student identifier assignment for ease in tracking, managing and reporting of student progress;
• True vertical interoperability through district-to-district student data transfers eliminating re-entry of student data;
• OLAP data warehouse populated with real-time transactional data;
• Elimination of state reporting by district;
• Web-based NCLB report card;
• Built-in federal reports such as IDEA, EDEN, NEAP and CCD; and
• Statewide integrated special education

Since 2002, the South Dakota Department of Education has been using Infinite Campus as its statewide infrastructure. Because of this design, South Dakota has been able to maintain its pre-NCLB staff headcount, has implemented an automated electronic transcript for higher education admission, and has applied to be a U.S. Department of Education growth model state.

“The Infinite Campus system made sense to us with our geographically dispersed student population,” said Dr. Rick Melmer, South Dakota Secretary of Education. “But it was after the implementation, in to the third and fourth years of using the system, when we began to realize the additional benefits of the system. Infinite Campus with its ability to measure individual student improvement, allowed us to apply to be a U.S. Department of Education growth model state.”

“With a decade of proven implementations, the federal government, states and regional consortia are seeing the value in a single, integrated system to manage their education processes,” stated Charlie Kratsch, founder and CEO of Infinite Campus. “Infinite Campus is well positioned to provide educators with the student information system they need so they can spend more time with their students.”
